Basement (the Glass House. August 12, 2014)


I still remember the day that Basement played down the street from the Glass House at Aladdin Jr. 2 — I wasn’t there. I was accompanying a friend to an open forum discussion on unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). While watching old people argue on off-topic issues was entertaining, I knew I was missing out on an even better show by a band that was going away for an undetermined amount of time. Snap back to current times: Aladdin Jr. 2 is long gone, but Basement was back in the US for an incredible sold-out show.

Musink 2014 (OC Fair and Events Center. March 21-23)

Riot Fest Day 2 (Chicago. September 14, 2013)

Taking Back Sunday

Day 2 of Riot Fest saw huge crowds packing Chicago buses and trains and all descending on Humboldt Park. The day was filled with a mixture of music legends and contemporary superstars. Flag, Blondie, Public Enemy, Taking Back Sunday, and Blink 182 were just a few to perform to the festival’s largest crowds of the weekend.

Riot Fest Day 1 (Chicago. September 13, 2013)


Big festivals are a completely different animal from what is usually covered by this site. Granted, many of the acts I covered last weekend are typical of what you’d see in an individual post, to have them all in one festival is pretty special. So it’s no surprise that the music scene basically exploded when the Riot Fest Chicago lineup was announced. I originally planned to go merely as a music fan, but I was granted the opportunity to cover the event and now I get to share the experience with all of you. More after the jump!
