On a cool Saturday evening,  hundreds of people headed to Union Station in Los Angeles. But it wasn’t just to access the hub and head off somewhere (well… not unless you were one of the thousands participating in the Women’s March earlier that day)… The Los Angeles landmark played host to 2 fully packed Joyce Manor shows!

Teenage Wrist (the Hi Hat. January 18, 2018)

Teenage Wrist

First post of 2018 features Teenage Wrist! This local band was making a lot of buzz after performing at Emo Nite and their following has definitely grown swiftly in the past year. Having recently signed a deal with Epitaph, the band kicked off a short tour to ring in the new year at the Hi Hat in Los Angeles. Teenage Wrist’s debut album “Chrome Neon Jesus” is available March 9.

Animal Style Records Ten Year Anniversary Show (Chain Reaction. December 17, 2017)

Ten years is a long time. And when you think about music and its ever-changing landscape, ten years can seem even longer. For an independent record label like Animal Style Records, 10 years means a lot of bands, albums, and friendships. This was all put on display for excited fans packed into the famed Chain Reaction. The night saw stellar performances by Northbound, Sundressed, We are the Union, Mixtapes (reuniting for this special occasion), and Daggermouth.

The Early November/ The Movielife (the Troubadour. October 4, 2017)

The Early November

Weekday, late-night shows are becoming more difficult to attend. Not because my passion for music isn’t there anymore, but I realize I’m getting old (and I had a 6:00 am meeting the next day). Ace Enders of the Early November mentioned before their set that they were taking us back to 2003 and all of a sudden a spark of energy lit up. I wasn’t worried about the show ending around midnight or that I’d only get 3 hours of sleep. Music has that kind of power.
