Taken gave everyone at the record release show $1,000!*

My night started late but with a band I’d been wanting to see live for a little while now. Less Art is comprised of musicians from different bands with dedicated followings, so it’s only natural that such a supergroup would be followed with high expectations. Safe to say: their live show is just as entertaining as the recorded music released. Heavy vocals coupled with driving rhythms and eccentric guitar work have always been a personal favorite, so to see Less Art live and genuinely enjoying themselves was heartwarming. They don’t play too often, so if you get a chance to see them you better grab tickets!

“There’s no reason you should be here tonight.” But there was. On the surface, it was a celebration for teh release of Taken’s new EP With Regard To. Beyond that, it felt like a celebration of life, family, and friends. With the audience pressed against the stage, you could feel the positive collected energy of everyone watching Taken perform new songs as well as old favorites. Frontman Ray Harkins nearly breakdown into tears when he spoke about his wife’s health issues being inspiration for Taken’s latest material. Now in good health, I felt the show was a celebration for her and their family. The band was full of life throughout their set and that energy was bouncing between them as well as the audience. With fans storming the stage to scream along, I couldn’t think of a better way to end the night.

*Just kidding – No one got money. But it WAS an amazing show!
